Verbatim from The Water Skier Magazine article written by Scott:
Female Athlete of the Year
Since returning to tournament water skiing five years ago, Mandy Nightingale has become the face of women’s tricks skiing. A year after setting a new women’s world tricks record for the first time in seven years, Nightingale won the International Water Ski Federation’s (IWSF) Water Ski World Cup season title for the second consecutive year and she won titles at the Australian Open and U.S. Open. As a member of two U.S. Water Ski Teams this year, she earned the bronze medal at the Water Ski World Championships and she won three medals – silver in tricks, bronze in jumping and bronze in slalom – at the Pan American Games.
Male Athlete of the Year
With victories at the Moomba Masters, U.S. Masters, Malibu Open and Water Ski World Championships, and a second consecutive IWSF Water Ski World Cup season title, Freddy Krueger continued to be a nightmare for his competition in 2007. And let’s not forget the fact that Krueger was finally recognized for recording the farthest water ski jump in history. The IWSF’s Technical Committee announced in August that it approved Krueger’s world record jump of 243 feet (74.2 meters) that was set on Nov. 5, 2006 at the McCormick Record No. 5 tournament in Seffner, Fla. The mark eclipsed Krueger’s former world record of 240 feet (73.0 meters) set in October 2005.
Mad City Ski Team
And if this weren’t enough, the Mad City Ski Team (sponsored by MasterCraft) was selected by Scott as the acclaimed, “Team of the Year”.
Verbatim from Scott’s article:
Ninety-five members strong, the Mad City Ski Team, is now the team to beat in show skiing. In July, the team from Madison, Wis., won the team title at the Wisconsin State Show Ski Championships – the world’s largest water ski tournament – for the third time in four years. In August, it won the team title at the Malibu Division I Show Ski National Championships for the second consecutive year and the third time in four years.
What a GREAT recognition and award for all-
Congratulations go out to Mandy, Freddy and the Mad City Ski Team!!
